The News

Sooo...the retreat went great. It was fantastic, really. It was also busy, hot, stressful, hot, and busy. But it was great.

I went to the doc two days after the retreat to find that I had lost 6 lbs in 7 days and my blood pressure had skyrocketed. So they had me lay down, took the BP again -- it was somewhat better -- and I have to go back tomorrow for a non-stress test to make sure that baby is okay given the significant weight loss.

I am having difficult afternoons -- feeling like I can't get my breath well, dizzy and a bit nauseous. That is how I was feeling when the doc took my BP and it was so high, so I'll discuss that with him tomorrow.

Saturday I will be 37 weeks and full term. So that is good.

I really do have a lot of photos and whatnot to share with you all, but I'll get to that well, you know, sometime. :-)

Saturday's Afternoon Tea, followed by a talk on nutrition by Serene

Fortunately , some people had provided healthy snacks. I provided caramel brownies ;-)

The lovely lady in green provided most of the supplies and support we needed for the afternoon tea.

We've Been Quiet, but Not Idle

I haven't posted much recently, not because I've been idle, but because I've been busy. I haven't taken pictures of all the projects I've worked on, but here are a couple.

Above is a baby afghan I made as a door prize for the AR Retreat.

Below: Dining room curtains (with Woby and Caspian) -- I also recovered all the dining chairs in a pale olive green-and-cream textured fabric. Not the best pics but I will get more later (if I can get to them before the chairs are stained....)

Nothing much to tell you really! Got up late this morning, like 10am; did some chores and a bit of general cleaning, went to the library, paid massive fines; went to Buddy Rogers, looked at over-priced violins for Miss Rose; went to Kroger, bought a pork roast to turn into pulled pork for church lunch tomorrow; came home, watched the menfolk launch a rocket; read a book; read another book; ate salad fresh from the garden and homemade toasted bread with lashings of butter, and guzzled homemade iced tea; practiced the banjo -- yes, I said BANJO.

What's it to ya?

Long Time, HUH!

I just spent 30 minutes trying to get a wasp out of the living room picture window. I found out how to open the windows up the other day while cleaning up a giant bird splatter after Mr. (now-)Deceased Bird flew into my window. So, when I saw the wasp, I was going to spray it with my super high-jet wasp spray, but he was flying all around in my window herbs and since I already managed to mist them with window cleaner this morning, I figured they'd had enough, and I'd get the wasp to fly through one of the open windows.

But wasps are stupid. They aren't interested in negotiating or finding a better way. They have weapons, and that's all they need. So Mr Wasp wasn't as interested in getting out the open windows less than 12 inches from him, he just wanted to buzz around the picture window and smell my herbs.

I tried to shoo him out with an Above Rubies magazine but he didn't go for that. After I accidentally tossed said magazine out the open window, I decided to go for something longer and sturdier, and picked up the fireplace shovel. I poked at him several hundred times but he just got really annoyed, and by that time he had invited several flies to the new digs, so I was getting pretty frustrated with the whole scenario.

Then he zoomed past my head, and went out the window. Woo hoo.

Then I closed the windows, ignored the new fly zone, and went to the kitchen to make a cup of tea. But I had already made a cup of tea before I went into the living room to sit while it brewed, because I was wanting to enjoy a rest, because of these contractions, and look peacefully out the picture window.

Yeah, and the tea was cold.

So that is basically my life in a nutshell.
